Dearest Joan how much I miss your wise advise, your quirky sense of humor, your love of life. Even now I ask my self WWJD What would Joan Do? I am so glad you shared your life with the wonderful Kojak and we could share love of doggies, and of making tv and it was you and I against the world.
Kojak was Joans best companion – she finally came to know the love of dogs through him. She was the best Jewish Doggy Mommy! She even said her evening Jewish prayers with Kojak and had him blessed by the Rabbi.
Joan was a wonderful host and interviewer both in Chicago and in La Jolla, interviewing the movers and shakers who just adored her. It was because of her ecouragement I went to law school. Joan supported me through two marriages and was always there for me no matter what hair brained scheme I came up with.
Joan saved her granddaughters life by her early identification of the child’s diabetes – something even the childs doctor did not catch.
She never completed her book “Tales from the Pool” but she read me many hilarious chapters of it. The literary world is the poorer for the loss.
Joan loved deeply and fiercely.
I wish I had been there with her at the very end. I wish she would call me now. I hope I can honor her life by being as she was to others.
You live in my heart forever, my dearest friend, JT from LV,
Your VT from LJ.

I always liked you cousin Jonnie. I’m so sorry that you drifted from the family and we couldn’t share our lives together. Last time I saw you was in 1966 at my wedding.
Rest in peace.
